Julie Chu, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Julie Chu is a board-certified and licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who provides thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care grounded in compassion and clinical expertise. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Coast University and her Master of Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from California State University, Long Beach.
Julie brings extensive experience from both inpatient psychiatric and inpatient chemical dependency settings, allowing her to effectively support individuals with primary mental health concerns as well as complex dual-diagnosis presentations. Her background has shaped a calm, attentive approach to care that prioritizes safety, trust, and long-term stability.
She specializes in comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapeutic support, with a focus on creating personalized treatment plans that reflect each patient’s unique needs, goals, and circumstances. Julie is known for being approachable, detail-oriented, and deeply committed to helping patients feel heard and supported throughout their treatment journey.
Julie believes in collaborative care and works closely with her patients to foster insight, build resilience, and promote meaningful progress toward improved mental health and overall well-being.
Sahil Mehta, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Sahil Mehta is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Shine Psychiatry. He offers thoughtful, individualized care that blends medication management with practical, evidence-based therapy.
Sahil earned his Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Before becoming an NP, he worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient mental health settings across Orange County and Los Angeles County, gaining hands-on experience in both behavioral health and chemical dependency care. This foundation continues to shape his calm, compassionate approach to working with individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns — including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related issues, ADHD, and other mood or stress-related conditions.
He incorporates tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused techniques to support meaningful progress and long-term wellness.
Sahil is committed to building a safe, respectful space where patients feel heard and supported. He believes in collaborative care that aligns with each person’s unique story, goals, and values — whether you’re just beginning your mental health journey or looking to build on the progress you’ve already made. Christopher Woo, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Chris Woo is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). He is an ADHD, mood and anxiety specialist. He completed his Masters in Nursing in Clinical Nurse Leadership from the University of San Francisco and a Post-Masters PMHNP certificate from West Coast University. He is an alumnus of the University of California, Davis where he completed his undergraduate studies.
He provides direct psychiatric consulting services to leading global companies, as well as manages complex dual-diagnosis cases in community mental health settings across Los Angeles, working with populations affected by ADHD, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, psychosis, and bipolar disorder. He works closely with professionals, veterans, students and more.
His treatment approach is collaborative with his clients, and provides modern evidenced-based treatment options that combine medication management with a holistic approach. He utilizes talk and cognitive behavioral therapy to address the root cause as well as tailored lifestyle modifications to treat the individual as a whole.
His goal is to empower his clients to live a meaningful life to their utmost potential.
Soroya Bacchus, MD
Collaborating PsychiatristDr. Soroya Bacchus, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist and addiction medicine specialist who has been in practice in California since 1995. With decades of experience treating a wide range of psychiatric and addiction issues, Dr. Bacchus is known for her integrative and compassionate approach to care.
She believes that healing begins with understanding each individual’s story, combining evidence-based medicine with genuine compassion. Guided by the simple philosophy that “humans are my thing,” Dr. Bacchus is dedicated to helping people restore balance, connection, and meaning in their lives.
Philip Wasef, MD
Collaborating PsychiatristDr. Wasef is a board-certified psychiatrist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD at our mental health clinic.
Dr. Wasef earned a medical degree from the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in 2014 and completed psychiatry residency training at the University of South Florida in 2018.
With years of experience helping patients navigate complex mental health challenges, Dr. Wasef focuses on personalized treatment plans that may include medication management, therapy, and lifestyle-based strategies to support lasting recovery and improved quality of life. Dr. Wasef is committed to creating a supportive, non-judgmental environment where every patient feels heard and empowered on their path to wellness.
Diana Hoang, PharmD, APh
Clinical Pharmacist ConsultantDr. Diana Hoang is a residency-trained, Advanced Practice Pharmacist (APh) with over a decade of experience in ambulatory care, specializing in chronic and complex disease states. She brings a deep understanding of pharmacotherapy, having served diverse patient populations through her work in primary care and specialty clinics.
At Shine Psychiatry, Dr. Hoang plays a pivotal role in enhancing patient outcomes through comprehensive medication management and pharmacy consultation. Her expertise includes optimizing psychotropic regimens, navigating prior authorizations, improving medication accessibility, and collaborating closely with our psychiatric providers to ensure safe, evidence-based prescribing. She also assists in ordering and interpreting laboratory tests to support medication monitoring and clinical decision-making.
With a passion for patient-centered care, Dr. Hoang is committed to bridging the gap between mental health and pharmacology.
Alexander Luis Mina
Support specialistAlexander Luis Mina serves as Shine Psychiatry’s dedicated Support Specialist, playing a vital role in coordinating care for our patients. He facilitates communication between patients and providers, supports scheduling and follow-ups, and helps maintain the efficiency of our practice. With a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Trinity University of Asia in Quezon City, Alexander brings a solid healthcare background and a detail-oriented approach to patient support.
Rai-Yaan Awak
Support specialistRai is Shine Psychiatry’s Administrative and Support Specialist, helping patients and providers stay connected and supported. She manages appointments, follow-ups, and patient care with attention to detail. With a pharmacy degree from Universidad de Zamboanga and strong healthcare experience, she brings care and compassion to every interaction, ensuring patients feel supported throughout their journey and helping providers deliver optimal care.
